Regaining Control of Your Life

OU Physicians Urology provides comprehensive services for our female patients. Whether you suffer from stress incontinence, vaginal prolapse or a number of other urologic conditions, our goal is to help you regain control of your life. Our specialists will thoroughly evaluate your problem to establish a diagnosis and plan for treatment.

Our urologists are specifically trained in incontinence procedures, reconstructive urology and sexual dysfunction for women. They also provide in-depth evaluation of disorders that may be secondary to such conditions as spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, diabetes mellitus, cerebrovascular disorders and other neurologic conditions.

The information below explains a few of the conditions and treatment methods available through OU Physicians for:

Vaginal Wall Prolapse
The loss of support to the pelvic organs surrounding the vagina may result in "dropping" of the bladder, urethra, rectum or uterus into the vagina. Vaginal wall prolapse is often associated with urinary or fecal incontinence.

OU Physicians urologists offer these medical and surgical solutions to this condition:

  • Pelvic floor muscle exercises
  • A silicone rubber device (pessary) inserted into the vagina to support pelvic organs
  • Surgery

Female Sexual Dysfunction
Sexual dysfunction may include loss of sexual desire or discomfort during intercourse and causes may include medical conditions, aging, stress or other factors.

Once an OU Physicians urologist has made a diagnosis, treatment may include:

  • Hormone replacement therapy
  • Vascular treatment
  • Treating underlying medical conditions
