When we found out that we were going to be blessed with our fifth child, we knew we wanted to use a midwife. We had used a lay-midwife at our home with our third and fourth children and loved the experience, but our insurance didn't cover a lay-midwife so we were back to a hospital setting.

A good friend of mine had recently been a patient of Pauline Lisle and had absolutely loved the whole experience at OU Physicians and OU Medical Center. So I decided to meet with Pauline and see for myself. I knew from the first visit that we were going to love the experience, too.

As my pregnancy progressed, we knew we had chosen the right midwife and hospital for our family. The nurses were always accommodating to my other children when I needed to bring them to appointments. The children were always excited to go see Pauline and hear the heartbeat of the baby.

My water broke a little after midnight on March 7, 2005. After checking with Pauline, we waited until about 5 a.m. to check into the hospital. We brought our eight-year-old son, Dillon, with us. He really wanted to be part of the process since this would be his first brother (after getting three sisters). Our second son finally made his appearance at 3:30 that afternoon. Dillon was there to cut the cord, as my husband filmed the entire birth. Pauline and the nurses went out of their way to make Dillon feel involved and special. My husband was impressed with how they handled everything and how they treated us as a family.

I would highly recommend Pauline and the other nurse midwives at OU Physicians for two main reasons. First, I feel like Pauline really listened to what I wanted. Second, the staff was quick to include the whole family in the pregnancy and birthing experience. My kids still talk about the nurses and Pauline. Dillon will never forget his experience either.

Thank you so much for providing quality medical treatment with the personal touches that are lacking in so many hospitals and clinics. We would definitely come back!
