Helping You Have the Family You Want

Planning a family can be a simple task, but sticking to that plan isn’t always so easy, especially when you have difficulty conceiving.

Treatment options for male infertility depend entirely on the factors causing it. The good news is that few medical fields have changed as dramatically during the past decades as reproductive medicine, particularly as it relates to men. Many conditions can be corrected by lifestyle changes, medication or surgery allowing you and your partner to conceive naturally.

Some of the treatments available through OU Physicians urologists include:

  • Medication -- used to treat immunologic infertility and retrograde ejaculation
  • Varicocelectomy -- repair of dilated scrotal veins for improved sperm movement, concentration and structure
  • Surgery to reverse blockage of the vas deferens
  • Transurethral resection of the ejaculatory duct (TURED) -- removal of obstruction in ejaculatory duct that blocks sperm
  • Sperm retrieval -- there are several methods of sperm retrieval (surgical and non-surgical) for later use in intrauterine insemination (IUI) or in vitro fertilization (IVF)
